Spiritus Dei- North Seattle/Eastside Announcements
New Gathering Place
With our
May and June gatherings we will explore a new meeting location somewhat more
centrally located in Seattle. The Sand Point Community United Methodist Church is graciously offering use of
their Fireside Room for our regular Sunday gathering. You are enthusiastically invited to join us
as we experience this new space with a special prayer integrating the words and
thoughts of Hildegard of Bingen, Mechthild of Magdeburg, Gertrude of Helfta and
Catherine of Siena into our Eucharistic ritual.
All are invited—anyone looking for an inclusive shared prayer experience
and a welcoming way of being catholic.
We will continue to periodically meet in homes also soplease watch for our posting of the invitation for each monthly meeting.

Resources for Prayer
Our community has been richly blessed using several
resources for eucharistic rituals: Walking the
Prophetic Journey by Mary Beben and
Bridget Mary Meehan; our May 4 ritual will be taken from Eucharistic Prayers
for Inclusive Communities by Bridget Mary Meehan and Sheila Dierks. The latter is available for use by small eucharistic
communities from WovenWood Press and offers a bridge between Roman Catholic
WomanPriests and ECC. We have also drawn
scripture reading from Rejoice, Beloved Woman, Barbara Monda; Psalms
for Praying, Nan C Merrill and The Inclusive New Testament by Priests
for Equality.
Spiritual
Reading Group
About
nine of us regularly meet to discuss books that have enriched our prayer and
ministry experience and sparked energetic dialogue and personal sharing.
Currently we’re reading The Prophet’s Way, Touching the Power of Life by
Thom Hartmann, described as a
“. . . .marvelous, true-life spiritual adventure story. Hartmann makes his
fractal pilgrim’s progress along the edge of chaos---social, political,
psychological and spiritual . . . to the presence of God.” We previously read, Radical hospitality,
Benedict’s Way of Love, Holman and Pratt; The Discerning Heart,
Wilkie & Noreen Au; Radical Amazement, Contemplative Lessons from Black
Holes, Supernovas, and other Wonders of the Universe, Judy Cannato.
If you
are interested in joining us to explore frontiers of spirituality please

ECC Synod was on October 24th to 27th in Florida. Go to the Ecumenical Catholic Communion web site to see more information about this Synod.
Notice: We are pleased to announce to you all that the Ecumenical Catholic Communion
has been officially recognized as a legitimate faith community by the
Association of Professional Chaplains, the national association which certifies
Chaplains based on credentials of a masters in theology or divinity and 1600
hours of supervised clinical work and 400 hours of classroom training.
This now allows chaplains from the ECC, who
are not certified, to attain certification through proper training and ECC
endorsement.

Spiritus Dei ECC is a tithing community: Our last tithe, 5% of our income, was
donated to Merciful Love Connection’s work with unwed mothers in Chile. We also tithe 5% of our quarterly income to
the National Ecumenical Catholic Communion.
A quote to ponder from I Have Called You Friends by
Kevin L. Thew Forrester:
"A God wholly present in every nook
and cranny of creation, in every person, is the implication of the sacramental
theology spoken by Tom Ray. The body of Christ is indeed the church, but it is
much, much, more--creation is the very body of Christ. Baptism is to be the
water washing away all divisions in our vision and way of life. Eucharist
reminds us that each and every table around which we gather is a feeding by God
of God's own. Our mission as the people of God is to be a witness that this is
so--everyone belongs to and is fed by God. Everyone belongs and is called forth
to be a minister of God. We are no longer consumer "communities" in a secular
culture of consumption, but ministering communities in a thoroughly sacred
creation."
All excellent faith communities are the result of the full, active participation of the members. Spend some prayerful time considering the ways that you will participate in Spiritus Dei ECC. All of us have been given many gifts for the sake of the community. Do not be shy about letting your contact person know what gifts you have been given to share.
